About AEMMA Guelph

The Guelph Chapter, founded by free scholler , is AEMMA's first official chapter group outside of Toronto. David is also a Director and Secretary of AEMMA Toronto.

AEMMA Guelph offers the same curriculum as AEMMA Toronto. David's continued involvement and research with AEMMA Toronto provides Guelph students with the latest and most comprehensive training regimen.

The training is based principally on Fiore dei Liberi's "Flos Deullatorum" (1410), and George Silver's Paradoxes of Defence (1599). Recruit training is focused on grappling (abrazare), dagger (daga) and arming sword (spada). After achieving the prize of Scholler, students learn the longsword (spada longa), spear (lanza) and the pole axe.

Training Sources

Training is based primarily on Fiore dei Liberi's Flos Duellatorum, (1410). This material is supplemented with Fillipo Vadi's Arte Gladiatoria, Ringeck's commentaries upon Master Lichtenauer, George Silver's Paradoxes of Defence (1599), and Le Jeu de la Hache.

Training Weapons

We concentrate on unarmed combat, dagger, arming sword and longsword. Supplementary weapons include pollaxe and spear. AEMMA Guelph intends to develop a viable training program for poll axe in the near future.
